Why do people bully?

Todays subject is bullying, why do people bully and what are the consequences?

Bullying is hurting others physically or mentally. Who would want to do that willingly? If you hurt another person don't you feel bad yourself, wouldn't you have a guilty conscience? Some people seem to lack this kind of conscience when bullying others. They may sound very though, mean and confident, but are they in reality?

Maybe they are just hiding behind a though appearance, maybe they are the ones who are insecure. They might pick on other people who appear to be weak and have a low self-esteem, and tell them they are not good enough. But aren't they just doing that, because the more insecure people are an easy target? To pick on someone who seems weaker than you, is definitely a wrong thing to do. Do the bullies even realize what they are doing? The person they are bullying can be scared for life and it can affect them so much that they might even commit suicide. Bullying is a horrible thing that has an impact on so many people all around the world. We should all do what we can to stop bullying and not just stand by and watch people being picked on.
